Bowls in England has been traced back to the 13th century. The world's oldest surviving bowling green is in Southampton and dates from 1299. The game was banned in the 14th century for fear that it would jeopardise archery, then so important in battle. see Wikipedia for lots more information.

Bowls England is the National Governing Body for the sport of flat green bowls. Bowls Surrey is the county organisation affiliated to Bowls England. Dulwich Park Bowls Club is a member of Bowls Surrey and Bowls England.
